Um, okay, I have an iris named after me, "Barbara Mann" by Larry Anaya and
Julian Wells, 1992 (and registered by SFIS in 1995). What a
thrill!--especially such a huge, beautiful cream TB with wonderful fragrance.
I asked Larry why that one, and he said "Hey, it looks like you--tall and
blonde!" I'm very short, and I used to be a brunette before it all went
<sigh> grey. Anyway, it's a great grower around here, and I sent a rhizome to
Linda Mann in Tennessee just because her sister is also named Barbara (which
lead to some interesting correspondence when her sister e-mailed me out of the
blue, and I thought I was getting letters from myself). Last I heard, it
hadn't rotted yet--seen it lately, Linda?
Barb, outside Santa Fe, where the temp. is now 7.8 degrees F (and falling...).

<< Hi everyone-
I think it would be fun to collect all the irises named after people on the
list. I know there's an iris named CLARENCE and isn't there one named
ROSALIE FIGGE? Who else has an iris named after them? Don't be shy!

Ok - not named for me as such, but I see in the CheckList:
GRAHAM'S CHOICE (Busch 1979)
- anybody still grow this or prepared to send me some?
But then I do think I'm a bit of a BOY WONDER (Ghio 76)!!! :-)
