In a nutshell, I've used tetraploid RCs derived from I. hoogiana to produce
3/4-breds that are much more gardenable that the traditional triploids that have
more onco heritage. Their fertility is limited, of course, tho' it ranges from
nil to quite reliable. I have managed to get some seedlings by crossing these
3/4-breds back to conventional halfbreds and am quite pleased with them,
overall.
But this will be a continuing saga....
