Not in pots. Out in a bed specially prepared for them. Lots of assorted
rocks under about a foot of sandy, gravelly soil in a raised bed in full sun.
Have had blooms regularly on ESTHER THE QUEEN, SHEIK, KHYBER PASS,
BANGLADESH, MOHR PRETENDER. Added PRAIRIE THUNDER and HOOPLA 2 yrs. ago, and
both bloomed last year. I was quite pleased with both. Other than the
composition of the bed, they get no special care.
However, I would not say that any of them really thrive. They survive and
manage to bloom. Increase is about at replacement rate, except for
BANGLADESH, which did better. And, of course, I haven't mentioned all the
ones I managed to kill!
