Rick
I know there has been a lot about solarization on iris-l, but I wanted
to get your opinion on what I think I am going to try. My beds are 12"X
4' wide high with staked 2 X 12's as retaining boards. I was thinking
that if I dig mid July, then I could solarize for a month and be ready
to replant mid Aug. I was thinking a raised bed would heat up faster
because there would be less contact with other earth along side acting
as a heat sink.
Another question, this about the laser cut soaker hose you use. I use
the black weeping hose that is made of recyled auto tires. I like it
pretty well, but I have to be careful to use equally old hose on the
same feed line to get uniform water distribution. The other thing I have
to watch is the length of the lines. If they get too long I get
significant pressure drop and less water at the far ends. So, my
question, how well does what you use deal with pressure drop and uniform
water delivery particularily over longer runs?
Thanks
