I have read Jason Leader's and Dennis Stone's comments on FEATURE ATTRACTION,
as well as what you have said. Fascinating! I assure you that it did not
get the Walther Cup based on my vote for an HM, because I did not vote for
this fabuously beautiful iris.
Your comment about "bloom out" mirrors my experience with it. I planted it,
and got about seven increases the first year. "Wow" thought I, "a great
increaser." It then proceeded to bloom very late here, end of May! And
every single increase bloomed, and a couple with more than one stalk. And,
then everything rotten and was gone. Every iris near it was just fine. To
me, this a strong reinforcement for the merit of Brad Kasperk's comment the
other day (and Keith Keppel's emphasis), that judges should not vote for an
iris UNLESS it has done well in their own geographic area. Clarence Mahan
