Tim,
An easy book to understand is "Basic Iris Culture", published by the
American Iris Society. This covers the whole spectrum of growing,
showing, Hybridizing and etc. 32 pages.
However, if you will be "getting into" iris in a serious way, then you
can't do without the "World of Iris". This also covers the above, but
in addition goes into iris history, genetics, and species. It is much
more detailed devoting a chapter or more on each class of bearded iris
and chapters devoted to each specie. I consider this my "iris bible".
494 pages.
Both books, actually Basic Iris Culture is a phamplet, can be had from
the American Iris Society. Basic Iris Culture is $2.50 and the World of
Iris is $20.00. Prices include postage and handling. Make check
payable to the American Iris Society and send to Jerry Gifford, PO Box
1414, Antioch, TN 37011.
