Re: The commercial nursery

In a message dated 22/01/97 05:38:32, Clarence writes:

<< The
rebloomers I carried were rebloomers that were "proved" dependable in
Virginia...I would not sell a "rebloomer" just because it was registered as
such. It had to do well in my garden. >>

This is good practice - we mark all registered rebloomers in our catalogue,
but state something like:
"registered rebloomer, but not very reliable here"
or
"registered rebloomer, reblooms nearly every year"
along with a codicil:
"Rebloom - not all varieties posess this quality, and not all rebloomers
rebloom in every year"

.so far, no complaints. We encourage our customers to treat rebloom as a
bonus.

Clarence goes on to say..
<<There are not a lot of people selling a wide variety of Siberians, which
are in the east the best of irises for landscaping. >>

and in the UK.

He then says...
<<There are not a lot of people selling MTBs or historic irises (demand is
incredible for historics!).>>

I can endorse this last remark - we sell three historic plants for every one
recent variety plant.
