RE: Blue iris

And here are some more undeniably blue iris:
	Wenatchee Skies
	Charm City Choice
	Charlotte's Web
	Navajo Jewel

I'm sure more will crop up as others throw their two cents in... Barb, in
Santa Fe, where things have been melting for two days, but the weather guys
have mentioned the s-word for tomorrow above 6000 feet (that's us!).

In a message dated 97-01-20 05:21:58 EST, you write:

Sonya van der Hulle wants to know
>How come when I see an iris bloom that to me & most people it is Purple yes
>vivid purple & it's description is that it is a Blue ????

Because iris hybridizers are wishful dreamers? Like MAYTAG RED, there isn't
a true blue iris, though some are closer than others and in at some times of
day and sun and growing conditions, they are bluer than at other times. When
I first started buying iris, I sent in an order requesting purple or lavender
iris and got a bunch of intensely pigmented violet purple flowers - what I
really wanted (but didn't know at the time) were 'blue' iris. Something the
color of I pallida, the 'blue' flag.
