Re: Gleaning Items for the Bulletin

Clarence writes

:I have no problem with gleaning items for the Bulletin from the iris list,

:extracted for the Bulletin ought to be allowed to review and agree before
:submitting for publishing.

Right as usual, CEM! Furthermore, the writer of an email posting legally
holds the copyright to the text. I can't imagine lawsuits erupting in this
particular context, but the writer's permission must be obtained if more
than a short excerpt is quoted.

Also, although earlier I said that Iris-L could be considered a "robin" and
that all we need is a "reporter" to send our chatter to the Bulletin, we
must be sure not to give the impression that Iris-L is an AIS-sponsored or
-sanctioned round robin, or part of the AIS robin program in any way. It
might be best to print any Iris-L gleanings under a separate heading in the
Bulletin, so as not to tangle up those distinctions.

Happy irising, Tom.
