Iris Names: X-rated

Someone in the last couple of days (I think it was Walter Moores) commented
on the fashion sometime ago to give risque names to iris, such as BORDELLO
and GIGOLO, not to mention RISQUE itself. Someone else (I think it was
Clarence Mahan) observed that some hybridizers call attention to an iris's
"faults" when naming it. I think both these observations are apropos to the
fact that
GIGOLO is a Rotter!
In the same vein I offer the standard Utah cuss, OH MY HECK (as a potential
iris name, that is).
You may begin to have an inkling of the comments that were passed when I
entered Terry Aitken's IB, H---CAT, in the Salt Lake City Iris Show last
spring.
