I think there are a lot of beautiful blue irises available and we had a thread
once on this list devoted to the question of "What's Blue?". People spoke of
blueness generally and the tendency of many blue irises to have a violet cast,
which some of them do. Some have a green cast. This is not the end of the world
and you must love them anyway.. Check out that thread in January 1997, for
some other suggestions, including one of my favorites, TIDE'S IN. This may
have been where we all discussed BUSY BEING BLUE, too, a very pert iris.
Among the historics you will want to get a start of SHINING WATERS from the
Spears at Argyle, down in your neck of the woods. It is WONDERFUL!
Others that are good that they stock as well are fragrant ALINE, regal
CHIVALRY, incomperable GREAT LAKES, refined JANE PHILLIPS, and the truly odd
ZUA, with the crepe paper texture petals.
