Gena,
Those Bamboo Skewers should do it. If you don't want to do that, when
you catch them in the act, give them a good shove with a corn broom. Cats
hate being "broomed." I am talking "push" not swatting them. If possible,
it is better to discourage them so badly they go elsewhere than it is to
harm them.
