A variant of the "night-blooming" issue is Gladiolus tristis, and IRID that
I grew from seed from the SIGNA Seed Exchange. While it is true that this
glad blooms in the day (ie not only at night), it is only at night that the
blossom is fragrant. Don't think of the common, stiff, vibrant-colored glad
that you're used to...think of gentle yellow-greenish whispers of flowers.
Here in zone 5, I grow it inside in my sunspace, but probably you could grow
it outside in Florida. It is starting to put up flower scapes now; I expect
bloom in a few weeks.
Let ogres note: this is an IRID.
