If you will look on pages 44 and 56 of "The World of Irises" you will find
that the correct date of founding of the AIS (1920) is stated there. The
logo in question is actually an adaptation of the obverse design of the AIS
Golden Anniversary medal, on which the year is also inscribed correctly as
1920 (these medals are still available from the AIS Storefront if you wish
to check this out for yourself  - they only cost $2.50 each). I don't know
how the wrong year got on the logo in the book - perhaps it was a bit of
Cold War dirty tricks by the KGB so they could claim the People's Iris
Committee of the Soviet Union was founded first. (-:
