Kathie, do get as many catalogs as you can, especially ones with
pictures. Try to find growers in the same USDA Zone as you live in (local is
best), that way if you order something by the description or picture you have a
good chance of it being a good grower in your area. Feel free to ask about
specific growers on this list. Feel free to ask about specific Iris on this
list. Join an Iris club if there is one in your area.
My Opinions:
- Don't pay over $5.00 for an Iris you have not seen growing in a garden
or have a strong recommendation on for your area. (Newer isn't always Better)
- Patronize the smaller growers, they have more personal service and
tend to give more "extras".

I'm putting together a list of catalogs that I'd like to send for and have
a few questions since I'm new to Iris gardening.
1) From past discussion on the list, it sounds like late January or
February is the time to request the catalogs. Is this correct?
2) When do the catalogs start arriving?
3) When should you order? And when do the rhizomes arrive? (remember, I'm
new at this and think I know but I want to be sure. :)
4) On the average, how many catalogs does everyone request each year? I
was looking at requesting about 7 but didn't know if that was too many?
too few?
5) Someone recommended Winterberry Iris Gardens but I can't find their
address. Does anyone have it handy?
Thanks so much!
