It's an old wives' tale, Bruce. I can't tell you how many times I've made a
cross on the terminal flower, it being the first to bloom usually, and then
when the seed pod begins to form realizing that the remaining flowers are
forming a perfect show stalk, and the show is in three days...So then I'm
stuck with, well, how important is this cross? Show? Cross? Show? Usually
I decide to keep the cross.
