I read with interest the mail on DRAGONFLY. I received the Van
Bourgondien catalogue last week and perused it with interest. I was
struck by the picture of DF and wanted to get some more information
about it, so I went to my trusty R & Is, all the way back to the soft
sided volume of the l930s. There I struck pay dirt. DRAGONFLY is
listed on page l98, showing "Dykes l923". I am unable to decipher any
of the color numbers, but it is listed as "Sib-B1L.. There are also
four other names and dates - Orp 1923; 1938; Scheep 1927; Doub
1938;Ashley 1938. I am wondering if this might what we are
discussing..
I have ordered from VB in the past, but only ordered lilies,
bleeding hearts, and lilies of the valley. This was allbefore I became
infected with an incurable disease - the iris virus, and I really
haven't found a way to get much relief but buy more rhizomes, order
more catalogues, and dream a lot.
