OT: Amos Pettingill

he is a ficticious character!  the opening "new to us, maybe to you" thing
is written by a group of people.  they have said that people come to the
farm and get upset when they find out he's not real, they've been taking his
advice for years...

i find them expensive, but i buy something every couple of years so i'll
keep getting the catalog.  i use it for reference, i find their lavish
descriptions useful, but the cultural info i take with a grain of salt (or
sand :) since i live in zone 7b.  i have bought lilly bulbs and they were
all fine, but they were species, so maybe more durable?

i bet amos and martha s. are having an affair.  (i grapple with the concept
of her being a real person as well)
