Steve -- I remember the feeling. My first seedlings had to be dug in
August, before their first bloom year, packed in wet sand and
transported to Virginia from Indiana. Didn't lose one. The next spring,
the first one opened in the rain. My wife and I were standing holding an
umbrella over this new, yellow amoena while I photographed it. It was
dog-eared, but just to have produced anything was a thrill.
