Robert Stassen asked about purchasing original iris paintings, done in
the oriental
(Japanese/Chinese) style. Apart for original Japanese and Chinese
paintings themselves which are very expensive. I have only found one
artist who, in my view, really captures the beauty of irises. This
artist is Suezan Aikins who specializes in making Japanese wood block
prints following the Japanese tradition which goes back to the 6th
century. I understand that she is trained in both Canada and Japan and
has shows in Japan, Canada, and the US. Her wood cuts of
versicolor-ensata-laevegata type irises really capture the beauty and
grace of the flowers in natural, but formal, settings.

I do not know what she has for sale at this time and, so far, have been
quite unable to contact her by telephone! I continue to try.

Her address is - Suezan Aikens, R.C.A., Prosect, Nova Scotia, Canada B0J
2V0 and her telephone number is 902 852 3154.

I have a package of written information about her which I could fax or
post to interested individuals but it might be better to get more
up-to-date information directly from the artist.

Ian, in Ottawa where is cold (-21C) but calm
