Dream Irises - Year Round

My Dream Iris would bloom year round. Since this is not possible, I
crafted Irises from pipe cleaners. You can make any color combo that
pipe cleaners come in. I used straight and bump pipe cleaners to
create each flower. Two per stalk 'appear' to be real iris bloomes.
I took my craft to a cub scout meeting and had ten year old boys
creat their moms a bloom for Mothers Day. Well to my surprise Iries
come in some new color combos that only a child could dream of.
You need six straight and six bump pipe cleaners per bloom. you
craft each Standard and fall seperately. Then assemble the flower.

CRAFT SIX petals as follows:
Take one straight pipe cleaner and bend it 4-5 inches from an end.
Now bend the Bump pipe cleaner in half. Twist the bump pipe cleaner
over the straight pipe cleaner, where you made the bends. Hold your
craft so the Bump cleaners are up and the Straight are down. Bend
the bumps cleaners in half, back to the twisted connection. Twist
the end of each bump cleaner to the straight cleaner. With the bump
cleaners looking like bunny ears and the straight cleaners hanging
down. Take one side of the straight pipe cleaner and align it along
side of the bump cleaner, to the tip of the bunny ear. Join the
straight pipe cleaner to the bump cleaner, with one twist throught
the point of the bunny ear. Do the same to the second straight and
bump pipe cleaner. You now have two seperate bunny ears with
antenna, one long and one short. Twist the antenna together to
finish the petal. Turn your craft so the straight cleaner is down,
you are looking at One standard or fall. Fluff and shape each petal
to a spoon effect. Make six all the same. Then secure three as
standards and three as falls. I used tree branches as stalks, you
can place your bloom on any straight stick of choice. Two blooms per
stalk and cover the stalk with green pipe cleaners or florist tape.
Place the in a tall vase and you can have Iris Blooms year round.
My vase has an all Black Iris stalk, and a Yellow Rimed White
Iris. Then an Iris with Whit Standards and Purple Falls. All three
stalks have two blooms. It has fooled several friends thinking they
are real flowers.
