Last month I sent out this letter to various nurseries and growers.
Dear....
I am a teacher at a non-profit school for adolescent girls. These
girls are having difficulties due to abuse, neglect and or molest.
We are called Summitview and are located in a small town called
Pleasant Valley. This little town is about a 15 minute drive south
of Placerville, California. It is out in the country nestled amoung
the oak trees, amid the rolling foothills of the Sierras.
In my spare time before, during and after school I work at
creating a garden around our classrooms. When a new student comes to
us for the first time they are sometimes sad, angry, frustrated
and/or afraid. My dream is to create a beautiful, healing garden of
Eden where they can, again or for the first time, learn to appreciate
the beauty and serenity of the world.
Recently I have started asking people to help me with this dream.
Muddox Brick Manufacturers just donated 3,250 bricks for walkways and
patios. Cal Spas donated a wonderfully large gazebo. An angel named
Lora, at Forquin Iris Farm, came and spoke to the girls about the
business of flowers and also pledged to donate and help plant some
iris bulbs in September.
The girls are excited and pleased with the outpouring of
generosity and one of them suggested we try asking people on the
internet if they could help out too.
If you could possibly help out we would greatly appreciate your
assistance. All donations are tax deductible. My e-mail address is
sheffler4@hotmail.com
Our school address is:

I want all the Iris Lovers in this group to know that I am
astounded at the generosity of the following people. If you know
them or do business with them please encourage your friends and
family to go to their nurseries, order thier catalogs, and recognize
them as people making a difference in the lives others. They deserve
your business and your admiration.
