Hi Sally,

I don't know if anyone responded to you yet, but here is my cut on it.

The digest is just a compilation of messages in the order that they are
sent out, organized into one big message. It is generally done once a
day so you get a days messages in one fell swoop.

To me it is less useful than seeing each individual message because if I
want to archive a particular message, I have to copy out of the digest
and paste it into some other document. If I have it as an individual
message I can just file it. Digest doesn't really save you any download
time, because you are still receiving the same amount of information. I
suppose it is easier to delete the digest once you have read it, but I
just look through the list of subject lines and bulk delete those I have
no interest in. I suppose the index at the front of the digest is of
some value, but it is just about the same as seeing all the individual
subject lines in the email list.

I imagine others will swear just the opposite of all this, and I really
think that it boils down to how you want to operate. The really big
drawback to the digest mode that I see is that if you want to reply to a
particular message, you have to jump through all sorts of hoops to do
what is a single click option when you are receiving individual emails.

Just my opinion.
