Glad to here you are growing a good Aust LA. Most of South Australia has
very alkaline soil and so those who grow LA here, grow them in large pots
using acidic potting mix and the half sitting the pot in the pond. The pots
need to be regularly fed with Camillia and Azalea fertilizer, and use
frequent flowers of sulphur to keep the pH low. This should help your
Lousiannas grow well. I'm not sure I would try growing the LA in straight
sandy alkaline soil as it would be hard to keep the moisture levels up and
the pH down. Cow manure is also very good for LA. It helps keep the pH down
and is a nice rich manure and also helps retain moisture.
