Sandra, condolences might not be quite appropriate. We don't suffer from
iris borer here. There are many other plant, animal and human diseases,
pests and parasites which are kept out of the coutry by our ever vigilant
quarantine and customs departments. I have had people offer to send me
rhizomes or plants from overseas, just wrapped in a parcel and falsely
labelled. (I refused) A friend received a package of seeds from the seed
exchange, labelled 'beads' and containing a surprise extra pack of datura
seeds, which are not permitted on the import list. They were picked up by
customs and confiscated.
I think we are lucky to be protected by such vigilance.
Cheers, Jan
Australia
