I have no suggestions on what to plant where.

However, the last time I saw septic lines behaving like
that, the septic tank and its septic lines were more than
a little overdue for maintenance.

I'd suggest having a septic tank expert look at that area
before you start doing much of anything there - or along
the paths a backhoe would need to use to get there.
