Robert Stewart asked what we spray with for leaf spot...we are currently
using Daconil, a fungicide. Two or three other fungicides are labeled for
use on iris -- I can't recall the names at the moment. Also, one of our
local horticultural "celebrities" who spoke to our iris society last month
gave her recipe for a spray to prevent mildew and it may work on leaf spot as
well. We have not tried it yet, but she likes it very much, especially in
that it is not toxic to humans or pets. Add to a gallon of water: 3
tablespoons baking soda, 2 tablespoons of shavings from a bar of Ivory soap,
and 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Spray on mildew susceptible plants as a
preventative. We plan to try it on some of the irises as an experiment.
Sure would be great if this works...I don't like using fungicides.
Anyone have experience with this formula? Other organic sprays for fungus?
