I have just dug up an overcrowded clump of Japanese iris. It was at the side
of my pond, with about 1/3 the roots in watery mud, the rest above the liner
line in dry soil. When I divide and replant, how much of a moisture
situation should I have. I am planning on planting them nearby in a regular
garden bed. Will regular watering take care of their needs? This is the
method I would prefer. But I have heard of an option.
I did hear that you can create an artificial bog, by digging a hole, putting
a liner in the hole and then filling it up with soil. If I do this, how
deep should the hole be? And how many square feet is recommended. I live
in Zone 7A, eastern long island. Many thanks. Theo1415
