Howdy All,
A query for you bulbous iris growers out there.......
Does anyone have a picture of Iris histrioides 'Major' that they could send
me? I have a plant that was given to me as this and I am trying to verify
this. There was a recent article in the RHS magazine "The Garden" which
mentions it is rare in commerce in the UK, but doesn't give a picture of it
unfortunately.
What I have is a solid mid blue with signal on falls, but the flower is
much more robust than most of the Iris reticulatas, being more the size of
Iris histrioides 'Katharine Hodgkins". This tends to support the name, but
I am trying to find out for sure.
I have a picture I can send of the flower on mine (is in flower right now)
but I'm hoping that someone out there has a picture of "The Real Thing".
I'm posting this to a couple of lists to see if I can get any responses.
Cheers.
