Re: CULT: irises for north Georgia

Hi Pat,

Thought sure a list member from Atlanta area would have
welcomed you. However, you are in Region V irisland.
We have several affiliates in Georgia: Atlanta Area,;
Flint River, Griffin, Georgia; and Milledgeville, Ga. There
will be a big plant sale in August at the home of Ted
Mansfield and Jimmy McCrae. Jimmy is the president
of the Georgia Iris Society.

I live on an island in South Carolina near Charleston and
grow all types of irises. Siberians are the most difficult
for me. Reblooming iris of the bearded type do especially
well in this region. We also have several hybridizers who
sell iris in this region which would already be acclimated
for you. Please e-mail me if you would like their addresses?

Again welcome and would like to make some suggestions
of what do well here if you email me. Janet Natale at
Myrtle Beach also grows in a sandy zone with amended
soil and has a great iris collection.

Again welcome and I know we all want you to have fun
and great success growing irises.
