Babs, I can't do anything about your delayed mail, but I was interested in
your weather! ! ! I have just returned from England where I attended the
British Iris Society meeting in Bristol the end of May and then visited my
granddaughter in Cheltenham. It was (to me) very cold in Bristol, very
little Iris bloom, but it was fun to meet the people. About 80 attended.
about a dozen from the USA, a few from Canada and Australia, and I think l
from New Zealand. a couple from Germany, but since they didn't give us a list
(as we do here) I'm not sure of the others except quite a group from Italy
(as usual, I understand) This was my first meeting over there, altho I had
been to England (and the Continent) several times - but during the summer
when it is warmer. Inearly froze - temps around 45 degrees in the a.m. --
even at my granddaughter.s when I left 2 weeks ago, it was 55 degrees early
and never over 68! You can imagine how I'm suffering here at 95 plus degrees
for the last week! ! And we need rain badly! Now I understand why the roses
in my granddaughter's garden are so gorgeous as well as the lupin and
delphinium! She belongs also to the BIS and the RHS, etc and went on the
garden tours with me , but she doesn't have many irises - she rents her
house since she will be returning to the States next summer. Hope your mail
situation is cleared up. I know what it is to be minus bloom and needing
mail! Right now I'm waiting for my reblooming irises to start up in another
month or so -- that is what I specialize in! Rosalie nr Baltimore,
