Janet,
Positive identification of the parents is not a requirement for registering
an iris. Many irises have been registered with only partial pedigree
information, or none at all. This includes some very famous irises, such as
STEPPING OUT and DUSKY CHALLENGER (registered as "parentage unknown") and
DEBBY RAIRDON (registered without any parentage info at all).
