Hi Sterling:
My solution to discourage cats from messing in my vegetable and flower
gardens is a well aimed BB pellet. Before those animal lovers out there jump
all over me. . . I only pump the rifle twice and it DOES NOT break skin, but
it does sting. When I moved into the city, I had a number of strays come
visiting. At one point, I had four sitting on the rock wall debating whether
or not to jump into my yard. When I started working the gardens I found too
many piles of cat poop. . not fun to stick your hands into. . . nasty stuff.
. . .my first move was to trap the feral cats and call the Humane Society to
pick them up. After that, I just employed the BB gun with wonderful results.
I no longer have these local unaltered males marking my yard as their
territory. I live in an area highly populated with cats and dogs. Not just
one house pet dog, but 2-3 yard dogs and as many cats, the majority of which
live outside year around. 98% are unaltered and unspayed. BTW, I have a cat
and dog, both house pets, both altered.
