CULT:Rot-retention in soil

Bill,

Have you considered digging the soil out of the spot where the rot
injured iris was and replacing it with soil from some other area or some
good potting soil and then planting iris in the same spot? I live in an
arid area and got rot in a rhizome last fall. I cleaned the rot from
the rhizome with bleach and detergent baths (2) and replanted in the
same spot and watered the plant with the water from the last rhizome
bath. The iris grew and multiplied in that spot. It looks healthy now.

I noticed that when our iris are blooming we tend to give more answers
and faster than when we do not have any bloom. This seems to be the
pattern over the years but eventually the current thread will die out
and people will have some answers and post them to the list. Don't give
up on us. Re post if necessary.
