Folks, I have corresponded with Bill Maryott in the past via email - but he
is a busy fellow what with daylilies and all... Joe G. has never returned my
emails FWIW.
Bill does have a nice section on culture and hybridizing on his web site go
to:
https://irisgarden.com/cgi-bin/Web_store/web_store.cgi
or for hybridizing directly try:

He plants his seed in November BTW.
My own experience is that it is of little benefit to germinate fresh seed as
they do not grow well in the hottest weather - waiting for Fall anyhow and
then are subjected to the worst of the winter weather, plus its a problem to
separate the early germinators from the rest of the seed pot without
disturbing the other seeds. On the other hand Louisiana Iris are such that
it is so difficult to get good germination on dried seed that fresh seed is
sown from the pod by many hybridizers (including Heather Pryor).
