What's the v. about? I love daylilies, have a few but don't have time nor
room to specialize in more than one thing and that is species iris.
However, around these parts the common orange daylily is often called "The
railroad Lily," because it is alleged that railroad brakemen would carry
clones in the caboose and whenever the train needed to stop for water or a
cow or whatever, the brakeman would stick a few in the ground, or dig up a
few from a previous clump to take on to another destination. I have no
evidence for this, so it may be a rural myth.
High 70 yesterday, overnight in the 50s, comfortable low 70s today with much
needed all day rain, and how serindip. because I literally weeded volunteer
cleomes out of my iris seedling beds and roughly stuck them in holes doubting
they would grow, but now they will have a chance.
