To be honest, I don't remember what received my Dykes vote. I remember
the Wister votes, that's all.
Celebration Song did well, but we just didn't like its performance - a
fashion thing, no doubt I'll love a knock-off of it in a couple of
years. Fancy Woman is certainly a favourite of mine and would have got
the vote as my 'token' TB consideration.
Bangles has always done well for us, no matter where we planted it.
However, I thought Cranapple did better. As a median lover, I would
feel obliged to select it over Bangles unless I was bound and determined
to see if a median made the top three list, if not the Dykes itself.
Does anyone have complaints about Cranapple in any region?
Anyway, I concentrate on the HM and AM votes because we don't have the
space to keep bearded cultivars for the minimum five full years from
intro to medal. I hate digging stuff that is still on the HM ballot,
but I have no similar qualms about stuff that is eligible for the Dykes.
Regards,
Sandy Ives in Ottawa (where we are at least a week away from digging the
medians)
