Betty ,I too anticipate and get feelings of  joy seeing C-R and  M-P each year  and this season have seeds  from  M-P   X  BRIDES   HALO ,   Has anyone else tried this cross?   Bill, these were my 'path makers' in the early years and my inspiration for 
  my early breeding program.  Path Makers because I would beat a path in the 
  grass just to reach their side each year, usually hourly.  None rebloomed and 
  most have other glaring faults, but most still make my heart rise (close to a 
  tingle).  My challenge was to recreate these loved ones in rebloom.   Among 
  those are CHRISTMAST RUBIES, ORANGE STAR, MICHIGAN PRIDE, & MAGIC MAN.  Can't 
  really say I've succeeded.  But, I've not failed either cause as I wandered 
  far afield, the trip was fun.

  I know it doesn't fit into 'easy', but have you tried a long cord & a heat 
  lamp to make it bloom early?  Aren't iris people resourceful?   Seriously, 
  have you tried moving it?  Maybe to the east side of a building as a 
  foundation plant?  That will speed it up by about a week.
