Dear Mary Lou,
Region 14 (northern Calif and Nev.) has been holding a rhizome sale and
educational exhibit at the California State Fair for three years around the
first of September, but it's unknown whether we'll be doing it this year.
The state fair was an excellent location to educate the public and there is
a steady stream of traffic all day. We did it for two or three days. The
first two years were great because the Fair allowed us to do it on a
weekend, when there was high traffic, but this last year, they put us in the
middle of the week and not in the floricultural area (go figure), and they
required us to do demonstrations! We won't do it this way again. At our
exhibit we tried to have some reblooming iris, just some on the counters,
but not a true exhibition. Certainly got folks attention.

> Are reblooming iris shown at any State Fairs? Not here yet, but I'm
thinking about trying to get something started (exhibition only) for 2003.
Am thinking this could be very good exposure for rebloomers, at least in
some areas. Also quite in keeping with the venue of State Fairs to showcase
advances in agriculture and horticulture. California maybe?
