The poster quotes from the New Hampshire Co-operative
Extension Service. 'Iris pseudacorus is banned from
deliberate sale, cultivation, or transport in NH.'

* NH Invasive plants: as a practical matter, the
'yellow' specie I. pseudacorus is sold here just like
it ever was. It is found down the street here in a
nursery that obtains all its plants from Canada. The
operative word Walter quotes is 'deliberate', I guess.
I. pseudacorus is found most everywhere in the wild
now. Since we have many lakes, streams and inlets, it
has spread like blazes.
I was a volunteer, along with my husband, in
the White Mountain National Forest invasive plant
project last summer. We saw I. pseudacorus growing in
the forest (we are part of a team of 'mappers' looking
for non-native plants and many of those are
invasives).
However, we have a limited window of time due to the
weather here. That leaves us August and Sept. before
the leaves fall and blanket the thousands of acres in
the Nat'l Forest. Any sooner and we would miss a lot
of invasives since most are later bloomers and the
leave configuration is not even visible until about
now.
Yes, I agree that the lighter yellows (bastardii
does well here) and the whitish pseud. are ok in my
experience.
