Pick it now! If you wait 'til the whole thing dries and cracks, you risk
losing the seeds with them falling out and onto the ground. I've found that
seeds in a pod are fully mature when the first sign of cracking shows. In
fact, I suspect they are fully mature sometime before the cracks start
appearing. On the occasions when bug damage has caused me to have to gather
one before the cracks appear but in the week or so before they would likely
to have started cracking, the germination rates have been as good as on
those I gathered when they were cracking and the appearance of the seeds
looked no different - they were already tan and fell out easily upon
shelling the pod.
