Re: AIS: Symposium/soap box #9

As a youth member I have read and followed closely this thread of messages
and it occurs to me that the reason people..(all members of AIS) don't want
to get involved with the organization is because they are tired of the
bureacracy!

President Aitken never fails in his quarterly messages to tell people how
bad it is and how much more help we need. If we would quit arguing about
every detail/policy/bylaw and such in the books and concentrate on the
Mission of AIS we might get something productive accomplished.

As for the Symposium....Director Snyder I highly respect your opinions being
you in the leadership of the organization but don't discredit the majority
of the membership populus for not being able to make their own decisions. I
again highly respect judges and it is my dream and aspiration to become one
as soon as I can meet the 3years of continuous membership clause. A maybe
stupid question....but why were write-in votes done away with? Is it
because it was too much work to put together? Trusted it would be a lot of
work but I feel this gives non judge members a say in what they think should
be considered the best of the best.

Not all members wish to become judges. Some are true gardeners...people who
love to tend the Earth. It is there choice to not be a judge but that
doesn't mean they don't have a say.

I am not angry, I am not upset....more disgruntled than anything. This
message isn't to come off as a flame but more of a youthful perspective on
the whole thing.

We the youth are the future. It is YOUR job as leaders to keep us here.
