Neil et all. Carole's summery is current with theories as they stand now.
The article that I have is "Genes and enzmes of Cartenoid Biosythesis in Plants"Cunningham & Gantt , Annu. Rev. Plant Physiol: Plant Mol. Biol 1998, 49:557-83.
It certainly is more logical that the sequence is a Carole outlined given chemical structure of the Molecules involved.
I have some results of Kitchen Chemistry which is puzzling and can't yet fit into the current theories as neatly as I would like.
1) Why did pink iris develop historically before orange Iris?
2) How does pink and beta carotene in same flower be distributed differently?
3) How can we have orange flowers that are so consistant in colour with each other with a partial conversion of lycopene to Beta-carotene?
Other questions as well but enough for now.
