I show Melanie Ann as being registered in 1997.  If the cultivar "Melanie" was
in a catalog 15 years ago, that doesn't jive.

There is a historic iris "Melanie" from 1941, but it's listed as deep rose.

There is also "Melissa Sue" registered 1983, deep pink with tangerine beard.
