Re: [irisAdd my vote to Betty's!

Betty W. I'll vote with you! Too many people handle the irises for
conventions who have never been to a National, have never had an inkling of the
scientific endeavor of what is involved in hybridizing, or trying to maintain a
garden of unquestionably properly named irises! Being "pretty" is not what it is
all about. I discard anything that does not bloom true towhat it is supposed
to be -- and in my vast experience (and it is really "vast" if you remember
my age!) I have learned not to buy anything at the garden sales of people's
extras, unless I know from whom they came! And even big named hybridizers
send out errors. After all, workers toss their diggings in the direction of
special piles, and sometimes they miss. But it is very embarrassing to have a
Dykes bloom and some irisarian points out that is not exactly correct!- and
it is one bought from a supplier to fill in the gaps! Oh,well, everyone is
nore or less human to make those human mistakes!

Haven't read or been on email much recently - and reading the above, maybe
everyone will wish I still wasn't! Family crises are the excuse -- son-in-law
with cancer on kidney and that removed (the kidney) -- now doing well. I've
just heard I should be o.k., after worrying me with a battery of tests as a
result of maybe lung-blood-cot as a result of the leg-cellulitis, and a
breathing-test (me, who never smoked!) Well, the results show that maybe I'll live a
little longer with whatever had ailed me before the tests, which didn't reveal
anything dire!

Now to go back how to find someone to weed - more pouring down rain! Rosalie
