RE: Htyb-PBF
I have to offer caution re how to interpret results. Counting PBF is a bit tricky as it depends on weather conditions and amount of sunlight (ie: cloud cover). It is best evaluated early in spring as later it can disapear on some plants particularly if it is not strong. I would suspect that in dilpoids it would be extra tricky. Seedlings are probaly the best time to evaluate, especially in early spring.
There is at least one modifying gene for depth of colour and probably another one for extension along leaves. The difference between red tinted and purple tinted foliage seems to be the inflorescence on the leaves. If this is rubbed off , the colour difference disapears.
PBF is skin deep, that is only in the top layer of cells. You can peel the skin, or top layer of cells off very easily to see what I mean.
