"You can open two pictures side by side in most Microsoft programs or Corel."
I'd like to try to explain a little better. Microsoft Excel (spreadsheet)
will open spreadsheet files, not photos. You can use the command, "Insert,
picture, from file" to insert an image into the spreadsheet though.
Microsoft Word (word processing) will open text based documents, not photos.
Here again, you can use the "Insert, picture, from file" command to place
photos into your word document. many photos if you like. Word allows you to
easily re-size the photo by dragging on the "handles" around the photo to
resize. Be aware though, that your document size (storage space) on your hard
disk can be large though. Word retains the resolution of the larger photo even
when you size it down, and so your documents will show large file sizes.
Microsoft Access (database) will only open database files, not photos. You can
define a field with a field type which can store photos, quite nicely, but you
have to design a form, or a report, to show the photos side by side, or
whatever.
"Open two pictures. Now go to the top of your screen and you should see the
word 'Window'. Click on that and then click on 'arrange' in the drop down. You
will be given a choice of 'vertical', 'cascade' or horizontal. Choose
'vertical' and you two pictures should be side by side."
The Window command allows you to specify whether you want to "cascade" your
opened windows (containing a document, spreadsheet, or database object), but
not the content of the photos within the document or spreadsheet.
Betty's idea of placing photos in folders in an organized format (sub
folders), is an excellent way to manage the storage of digital files.
