TB: Brown Tips on Leaves?

Several of my tall bearded irises have yellowed/browned 1/2 inch to inch tops 
on their leaves. I have done a search through the archives and looked in 
several books, but I cannot find commentary that addresses the cause of this.

For the past couple of weeks our heat indices have been over 100 degrees, but 
since this condition has also affected a couple of irises in pots which I 
moved indoors about three weeks ago, I deduce that it is not the heat that is the 
culprit here.

Any advice?
