HYB: TB: question - Obsidian

Have any of you used OBSIDIAN in hybridizing yet, or  know anybody who
has?  It's a smooth black, but comes from Keppel plicata breeding, if I
read the pedigree right.

I'm thinking of trying it (assuming it has good enough health here to
suit me) to see if it will help clean up messy hafts, but am wondering
how/if the plicata background might interfere.
