Thanks for the encouragement offlist, but to have a nice lively discussion, wouldn't it be more fun to share with everybody? :-)
The lady watering with pool water doesn't have a control group of irises, or at least not anything other than pallida, which doesn't care much whether it gets treated for summer crud (mostly resistant).
Many of my seedlings (which are not getting supplemental water or treatment)growing under heavy chip mulch look about as good as her storeboughts - not quite as lush (lighter green) maybe. Can't say the same for most others.
In the years when I have planted in ground new to irises, I have seen no difference in rot/spot diseases - with foliage wet from dew here till noon in a 'normal' year and high rainfall humidity all summer, new ground doesn't help.
I'm really curious to see if this product will revive a few things. -- Linda Mann east Tennessee USA zone 7/8 East Tennessee Iris Society <http://www.DiscoverET.org/etis> American Iris Society web site <http://www.irises.org> talk archives: <http://www.hort.net/lists/iris-talk/> photos archives: <http://www.hort.net/lists/iris-photos/> online R&I <http://www.irisregister.com> --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS
